Watching all the continuing drama on other fediverse projects; which we don't see much of here as it's mostly toxic players exploiting the lack of a working permission system and then shaming the site admins who are forced to deal with it and apply ad hoc censorship as a band-aid.
Anyway it got me thinking that even with a policy of only allowing connections to comment and post on your wall, there still should be a way to provide "trial friendships". Long story short I'm working on a new permission setting called "moderated". If it's set, the connection's posts to your wall (if allowed) and all their comments to your posts will be moderated, and we probably won't engage the hyperdrive on their channels. It's a proven strategy for dealing with bad behaviour online and doesn't require site admins to become morality nannies.
The feature won't federate across any other protocol, but the good stuff never does. So this (no surprise) will be Zot only.
